FOCUS GROUP!

This is a video of our focus group we held to help us get some feedback on our ideas of our up and coming film project. We asked four of our peers to come and be interviewed and tell us what they thought about our blog posts and comment on our video examples and ideas. This was very productive, as you can see in the video they thought our ideas were good and thought we should stick to the murder idea rather than the action theme we were also thinking of. We felt the focus group cemented or plans and give us the confidence to move on and start planning our film.

FOCUS GROUP!!

Movie name

30th November 2010

Today we were looking at different names for our film. We found the most inspiration from CSI Miami episode names and we have named our production after one of their episodes "GAME OVER" this is relevant because of the incorporation of football in our film.

Focus Group

Thursday 25th November

Today we are going to hold a focus group today in school. We are going to select five of our peers to look over some examples on our blog and discuss the ideas which we have in mind for our own production. This is invaluable as it will allow us to see the publics perception of our plans and give us a broadened opinion on wether it is a good idea as we can become very narrow minded in our approach so it is a good idea to here from other people. James

good camera angle at start!!

Good interrogation scene

i Feel this clip is exactly what we are trying to achieve in our film. The police are giving their account of what they think happened at the murder scene as a voice-over while the clip plays in the background. I think it is really effective when he tells the police to "stop!" we could have this in our clip because the victims friend could find it very disturbing finding out how his friend was killed.

As conor was saying it is extremely difficult to find the right interrogation scene i was searching through youtube and found this example of an interrogation against a murder suspect. I feel there are a few useful lines in this clip which i feel would be effective in ours. Gavin

problems

we have found it extremely difficult to find examples of good interrogation scenes. We have the idea of using something like CSI to use for our film. The example we are trying to find is police officers interrogating the suspect and it cutting to the action scenes with the suspect's voice being used as a voice over, narrating all of the events. conor.

More Music

I feel this music is good for a horror trailer but it is a bit too action packed. If we were to go back to the idea of someone being chased i feel this music would be the ideal complement to that scene. Gavin

I did some research on what type of music is most effective with the horror genre and i found that orchestral music is really effective and has been used ever since this genre began but also synth-based music and industrial music, have been used in more modern times. Here is a good example which i found on youtube and i feel we could create something like this in garageband and add it into the scene where the boy is walking home. Gavin

Another example

personally i feel the scene when the attacker is looking through the trees is really effective and gives the film a tense atmosphere so this is something i think we may include in our film when the boy is going to be attacked. Gavin

Plot

Our bascic plot is as follows

We are basing our production on a male teenager. He is a popular 17 year old who is the "cool guy in his school".

We are going to open with the guy being killed at the murder scene or perhaps just his body lying there. Then one of his friends being interrogated by his sudden death.  The boy will then retell the story of what happened that day and the last time he seen him. I think we could have a detailed description from the boys friends of what happened while he was with them acting as a voice-over for the film. Then cut back to the police interrogating him asking him questions. The police could then give a detailed description of what happened due to their forensic team analysing the scene of the crime. again this part could act as a voice-over with the film in the background.

He will start by playing football with friends after school. He is picked first for the team, he is playing the best and his team wins. The guy that was picked last is jealous of the popular guy. It gets dark outside and they decide to finish, the popular guy is walking home in the dark down a dark path (ideal location:Blacks path). Someone follows him home. We will have the boy walking home alone by himself then a view of someone watching him from the trees then sneaking up from behind him and attacking him, and subsequently killing him in the proceess. another rathmore production from previous years!!!!

Music for Running

Within our film we are going t have a scene of someone being chased and perhaps some fighting as seen in the nemisis video so i feel the background music from this song would be really effective and add to the action pack atmosphere which we are trying to create. Gavin
