Music For Film

We are currently in the progress of creating background music to play in our our short production, currently we have music made for the opening scene, the murder scene. It is orchestral music which was made in garageband which really adds to the effect of the murder scene and keeps the viewer engaged. We recieved great feedback and also it has given us ideas to continue this throughout the rest of the production to keep the viewers more excited and engaged.. Pictures to follow on how me made this

Lighting Changes

On Monday 21st March we re filmed some of the card game to try and improve the lighting. We felt some of the shots including those of Peter and Conor were too dull. We used spot lights to enhance the light in the room. we added a new sound track to the start of the film also. We feel we are close to completion but just are correcting a few minor points.

Photos from the set

BBC Drama

Conor, Gavin and myself got the opportunity to go and watch the filming of a new BBC drama. We originally got the opportunity to go and meet the directors, Lighting Technicians and set co-coordinators on Monday the 7th March. They were filming in Harberton park, we spoke with the director and he asked us to be extras in the show and said we were welcome to come onto the set to try and develop new ideas for our own video "Game Over". We were invited back on Friday to a house in Finighy. We arrived on sat at 1:45 but due to adverse weather conditions they couldn't film outside so they rescheduled and did other filming. They said we couldn't take photos this early in production but when we are extras we can do interviews and take relevant photos regarding our film ideas. The main themes of the drama is retaliation, hate and pain. Unofficially it is based on Martin McGuinness. The highly estemed  James Nesbit is in the drama so it should be intresting to get to see it from the the other side of the screne.

We were allowed to take a few photos of the vans and packing up.

Promoting the video!

We as a group are promoting the video via Facebook. We have created a group to generate feedback about our video. We have added a group of diverse individuals to the group to prevent the same feedback from each person. We are basing our video on a 1970s game of poker between high flyers that goes wrong. We have taken ideas from a multitude of movies of our time and before. We looked at Bond movies, however we recieved most of our motivation from The sting a 1973 American caper film set in September 1936 that involves a complicated plot by two professional grifters(Paul Newman and Robert Redford) to con a mob boss (Robert Shaw). The film was directed by George Roy Hill, who previously directed Newman and Redford in the western Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The title phrase refers to the moment when a con artist finishes the "play" and takes the mark's money. If a con game is successful, the mark does not realize he has been "taken" (cheated), at least not until the con men are long gone. The film is divided into distinct sections with old-fashioned title cards with lettering and illustrations rendered in a style reminiscent of the Saturday Evening Post. The film is noted for its musical score—particularly its main melody, "The Entertainer", a piano rag by Scott Joplin, which was lightly adapted for the movie by Marvin Hamlisch. The film's success encouraged a surge of popularity and critical acclaim for Joplin's work. The movie fascinated us and we felt if we could try to emulate and also add our own ideas we could come up with an excellent movie that will capture the imaginations of its audience.

Re-shooting

We are re-shooting some scenes tonight where the light is affecting the quality of the film, light is a key component of filming so we have to make sure that it is 100% accurate at all times.

Good Music

We found this music really interesting and felt it would be highly effective playing in the background during our poker scene. We will try and create something like this on Garageband.

Casino Royale card scene

We also watched casino royale to gain get ideas regarding the game we were going to have. We decided that it had a more professional look with regards the dress code. Also in casino royale there is an attempted murder in the movie. Showing how serious the game is.

Scott Joplin-The Entertainer

The theme song for the movie The sting appeared good and we felt we would try and get something similar for our movie.
